When the war brings death, suffering, and devastation, the community of the Church in Ukraine is not alone because the Church in Poland is with it. Please continue to be with us!” wrote the Roman Catholic Bishops of Ukraine in a letter to the clergy and faithful of the Catholic Church in Poland, in connection with the Day of Prayer and Material Aid to the Church in the East, which falls on December 4.

Просимо, будьте й надалі поруч з нами!» – написали римо-католицькі єпископи України у листі до духовенства та вірних Католицької Церкви в Польщі у зв’язку з Днем молитви та матеріальної допомоги для Церкви на Сході, який припадає на 4 грудня.

On the second Sunday of Advent, December 4, the Catholic Church in Poland will hold a Day of Prayer and Material Aid to the Church in the East, dedicated entirely to Ukraine this year. In connection with this day, the sitting bishops of the plenary meeting of the Ukrainian Bishops’ Conference sent a letter to the Polish Episcopate to the entire Catholic Church in Poland. „We thank the Church in Poland for the fraternal love shown during over 3 decades of freedom of the Church in Ukraine. This thanksgiving message is the first we wish to express today, as the Bishops of the Roman Catholic Church in Ukraine. We want to extend our gratitude to the Poles who, while not the richest in the world, have been able to share with those who are even poorer,” the Bishops from Ukraine write.

In the letter, they thank first of all for the support provided by the Poles since February 24, that is, since the start of the war. „We are deeply touched by your constant kindness, solidarity, and tangible help. This attitude is an expression of a living faith,” they write. They also ask for material support. „This request of ours, which we make to the Church in Poland through the Polish Bishops, is a plea in the face of fear and anxiety for survival,” they admit. „We thank you once again for the gift of prayer and the financial assistance with which you will support us on the Second Sunday of Advent,” they add, assuring of their prayers for people of goodwill.

„We realize that life is difficult for you, too. Think of your brothers and sisters in the faith who are on the threshold of a humanitarian disaster, resulting from the destruction of the power supply infrastructure and the consequent anxiety and fear of the approaching winter,” the letter reads. As the bishops report, people in Ukraine experience a lack of electricity, with a consequent lack of heat and water. Across Ukraine, it is only possible to use electricity for four hours a day. There are also places where it is not available for days. „We are being approached by an enemy whose name is cold, communications paralysis and fear. Today, war is not only the frontline, where battles are fought which bring death and injury to soldiers and civilians but also the paralysis of daily life,” reads the letter.

Referring to the motto of this year’s Day of Prayer and Aid to the Church in the East: „Sent in the peace of Christ”, Ukrainian Bishops stress that amid the ongoing war in Ukraine, it is a beacon of hope for them and at the same time a source of pride in the attitude of the Polish people. „Once again, as we express our thanks, we do so with the evangelical spirit of love you have shown in these last months, when you fed the hungry, gave drink to the thirsty, welcomed the stranger, clothed the naked and offered a helping hand to the sick. You did this in your home, whose name is Poland,” they write. „Together with the entire community of the Church in Ukraine, we thank you and ask you to continue to be mindful of us. May your kind remembrance manifest itself in prayers of supplication for a speedy end to the war and the advent of peace, but also, we humbly dare to ask, in offerings and material gifts,” the letter reads.

TO THE CLERGY AND FAITHFUL

OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IN POLAND

The Second Sunday of Advent is a great day of solidarity of the Community of the Church in Poland with the Community of the Church in the East, this year in particular in Ukraine. This is the twenty-third time that Poles have looked towards the East to give a loving testimony of remembrance to the Catholics living there, who, despite the many trials and tribulations, have preserved their faith. They did so with a great sense of identity and unity with the entire Catholic Church. They have never severed their link with the Holy See or renounced the faith. Many, standing up for this faith, have suffered in the name of Jesus, being imprisoned, humiliated and denied educational opportunities. Many, indeed not a small number, suffered death, laying down their lives as a cornerstone of the Church and an example of steadfastness. Their attitude can be encapsulated in the words of St. Paul the Apostle, who wrote in his Letter to the Philippians: “Life to me, of course, is Christ, but then death would be a positive gain” (Phil 1:21). This was indeed their destiny. Their suffering, we trust very strongly, turned out to be a gain for them, for, as our faith tells us, in acknowledging God, they received a reward from His hand. We recognise it and we see it in the salvation they have received among the saints and the blessed, and in the earthly fruit of their sacrifice, which was the renewal of the structures of the Church after the fall of the communist regime.

The poor, shattered and scattered Church embarked on the great journey of freedom. This was not easy from the very beginning. Churches had to be retrieved and rebuilt. Priestly and religious vocations had to be nurtured. There was a need to take pastoral care of the faithful. Today, we can say that the Church stood up to the challenge. It was largely thanks to the priests and religious who came from Poland. It was they who stood side by side with the few local pastors and, by undertaking the huge effort of pastoral ministry, sharing the inconveniences and overcoming all obstacles posed by the authorities, renewed the face of the Church. This happened because their diocesan and religious communities, the parishes in which they once worked and from which they came, stood behind them in solidarity. Through their ministry, bonds of friendship were forged between parish communities. These bonds have continued and provide a testimony to and offer an image of a living Gospel of love and concern for neighbours in need.

We are reminded at this point of the words of St. Paul the Apostle recorded in his Letter to the Colossians: “whatever you say or do, let it be in the name of the Lord Jesus, in thanksgiving to God the Father through him” (Col 3:17). Thus, instructed by the word of the Apostle, we thank the Church in Poland for the fraternal love shown during over 3 decades of freedom of the Church in Ukraine. This thanksgiving message is the first we wish to express today, as the Bishops of the Roman Catholic Church in Ukraine. We want to extend our gratitude to the Poles who, while not the richest in the world, have been able to share with those who are even poorer.

Furthermore, we would like to draw attention to the motto of this year’s Day of Prayer for and Aid to the Church in the East, which is: “Sent in the peace of Christ”. In the midst of the ongoing war in Ukraine, it is a beacon of hope for us and at the same time a source of pride in the attitude of the Polish people. Jesus said: “In truth I tell you, in so far as you did this to one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did it to me” (Mt 25:40). So, once again, as we express our thanks, we do so with the evangelical spirit of love you have shown in these last months, when you fed the hungry, gave drink to the thirsty, welcomed the stranger, clothed the naked and offered a helping hand to the sick. You did this in your home, whose name is Poland. Bless you for this attitude. Take possession of the kingdom promised by God, a kingdom of truth, peace and justice.

We are deeply touched by your constant kindness, solidarity and tangible help. This attitude is an expression of a living faith, because, as the Apostle James says: “Faith without works is dead. How does it help, my brothers, when someone who has never done a single good act claims to have faith?” (Jas 2:14). Therefore, together with the entire community of the Church in Ukraine, we thank you and ask you to continue to be mindful of us. May your kind remembrance manifest itself in prayers of supplication for a speedy end to the war and the advent of peace, but also, we humbly dare to ask, in offerings and material gifts.

We realise that life is difficult for you, too. Today, war is not only the frontline, where battles are fought which bring death and injury to soldiers and civilians, but also the paralysis of daily life.

Saint John Paul II once said: “I believe that the more one loves, the more one does, because a love that is nothing more than a feeling cannot even be called love”. We ask you for this very love expressed in material support. It will help us to secure our basic needs, such as the purchase of generators to provide shelter in our parishes for our faithful, so that they can get warm or cook a hot meal in a critical moment.

At a time of such great trial, when war brings death, suffering and devastation, the community of the Church in Ukraine is not alone, because the Church in Poland is with it. You have been with us since 24 February, when the war began. It is difficult today to sum up in figures the help we have received, but it is enormous, as enormous as the Polish hearts are. Please continue to be with us! This request of ours, which we make to the Church in Poland through the Polish Bishops, is a plea in the face of fear and anxiety for survival. We therefore thank you once again for the gift of prayer and the financial assistance with which you will support us on the Second Sunday of Advent. Today, we can most effectively express our gratitude by praying for people of goodwill.

May God, the Father of Mercies, bless you and may the Blessed Virgin Mary, our common Queen and Mother, protect you for all the good bestowed upon us.

Nella seconda domenica di Avvento, il 4 dicembre, la Chiesa cattolica in Polonia celebrerà la Giornata di preghiera e di aiuto materiale per la Chiesa dell’Est, quest’anno dedicata in modo speciale all’Ucraina. In relazione a questa giornata, i vescovi della Conferenza Episcopale Ucraina, radunata in seduta plenaria, hanno consegnato nelle mani dell’Episcopato Polacco una lettera indirizzata a tutta la Chiesa cattolica in Polonia. „Ringraziamo la Chiesa Polacca per l’amore fraterno mostrato nell’arco di oltre 30 anni alla Chiesa Ucraina. Questo ringraziamento è il primo che, come Episcopato della Chiesa Romano-Cattolica Ucraina, oggi vogliamo esprimere e lasciare ai Polacchi, i quali, pur non essendo i più ricchi al mondo, sono stati capaci di condividere con coloro che erano ancora più poveri” – hanno scritto i vescovi Ucraini.

Nella lettera ringraziano innanzitutto per il sostegno fornito dai polacchi dal 24 febbraio di quest’anno, dall’inizio della guerra. „Siamo profondamente colpiti dalla Vostra costante benevolenza, solidarietà e dall’aiuto concreto. Tale atteggiamento è espressione di una fede viva” – hanno affermato. Chiedono anche un sostegno materiale. „Questa nostra richiesta, che indirizziamo alla Chiesa in Polonia, che poniamo nelle mani dell’Episcopato Polacco, è un appello di paura e ansia per la sopravvivenza” – confessano. „Vi ringraziamo ancora una volta per il dono della preghiera e dell’aiuto economico, con cui ci sosterrete nella II Domenica di Avvento” – hanno aggiunto, assicurandoci la loro preghiera per le persone di buona volontà.

„Ci rendiamo conto che anche per voi è difficile vivere. Pensate però anche ai vostri fratelli e sorelle nella fede che si trovano alla soglia di una catastrofe umanitaria, legata alla distruzione delle infrastrutture energetiche e, di conseguenza, all’ansia e paura per l’inverno in arrivo” – si legge nella lettera. Secondo i vescovi, agli abitanti dell’Ucraina manca, tra l’altro, l’ettricità, la cui conseguenza è la mancanza di riscaldamento e l’acqua. In tutta l’Ucraina, può essere utilizzata solo 4 ore al giorno. Vi sono anche luoghi in cui non c’è per giornate intere. „Si avvicina a noi un nemico che si chiama freddo, la paralisi delle comunicazioni e la paura. Oggi la guerra non è solo al fronte, dove si svolgono le lotte che portano morte e feriti tra i soldati e i civili, ma è anche la paralisi della vita quotidiana” – si legge nella lettera.

Riferendosi al titolo della Giornata di preghiera e di aiuto alla Chiesa dell’Est di quest’anno: „Inviati nella pace di Cristo”, i vescovi ucraini sottolineano che nel mezzo della guerra in corso in Ucraina, l’atteggiamento dei polacchi è per loro una luce di speranza e allo stesso tempo un orgoglio. „Pertanto, dicendo ancora una volta che vi ringraziamo, lo riempiamo del contenuto dell’amore evangelico, che avete dimostrato negli ultimi mesi, quando avete dato da mangiare agli affamati, avete dato da bere agli assetati, avete vestito gli ignudi e siete venuti in aiuto ai malati. Lo avete fatto a casa vostra, che si chiama Polonia” – hanno scritto. „Insieme a tutta la comunità ecclesiale Ucraina, vi ringraziamo e vi chiediamo di continuare a ricordarvi di noi. La vostra benevola memoria si manifesti nella preghiera di implorazione per una rapida fine della guerra e per la pace, ma anche – e questo osiamo chiederlo con umiltà – nelle offerte e nei doni materiali” – si legge nella missiva.

AL CLERO E AI FEDELI

DELLA CHIESA CATTOLICA IN POLONIA

La II Domenica di Avvento è una grande giornata di solidarietà delle Comunità della Chiesa Polacca nei confronti delle Comunità della Chiesa dell’Est, e quest’anno in modo particolare di quella Ucraina. È già la 23.ma volta che i Polacchi guardano a Oriente, per donare una bella testimonianza di memoria verso i cattolici che vi risiedono, i quali, nonostante le difficoltà e le numerose contrarietà hanno conservato la fede. Lo hanno fatto con grande senso della loro identità e unità con tutta la Chiesa Universale. Non hanno mai spezzato l’unità con la Santa Sede e non hanno rinunciato alla loro fede, mentre molti, difendendola, hanno sofferto per il nome di Gesù, accettando la pena della prigione, dell’umiliazione e della negazione all’istruzione. Molti, e non sono piccoli numeri, sono morti, offrendo la loro vita come pietra angolare della Chiesa ed esempio di fermezza. La loro posizione può essere racchiusa nelle parole di S. Paolo Apostolo che, nella Lettera ai Filippesi scrisse: “Per me infatti il vivere è Cristo e il morire un guadagno” (Fil. 1,21). E realmente è stato così. La loro sofferenza, confidiamo con fermezza, si è rivelata per loro un guadagno perché, come ci dice la fede, riconoscendo Dio, hanno ottenuto dalla Sue mani il premio. Lo scorgiamo e lo vediamo nella salvezza che è diventata la loro partecipazione nel novero dei santi e dei beati oltre che nei frutti terreni del loro sacrificio, quali il rinnovamento delle strutture della Chiesa dopo la caduta del regime comunista.

La Chiesa povera, distrutta e dispersa ha intrapreso il grande cammino della libertà. Fn dall’inizio non è stato facile. Bisognava infatti recuperare e ricostruire le chiese. Bisognava preoccuparsi delle vocazioni al sacerdozio e alla vita religiosa. Bisognava prendersi cura pastorale dei fedeli. Oggi possiamo affermare che la Chiesa ha assolto questo compito. È stato possibile in larga misura grazie ai presbiteri e ai religiosi giunti dalla Polonia. Sono stati loro a rimanere accanto ai pochi sacerdoti locali e a intraprendere il grande sforzo del ministero pastorale; condividendo i loro disagi e superando tutti gli ostacoli da parte delle autorità, hanno dato un volto nuovo alla Chiesa. Ciò è stato possibile perché erano sostenuti dalle loro comunità diocesane e religiose, le parrocchie dove in precedenza avevano lavorato e dalle quali provenivano. Grazie al loro ministero si sono creati anche legami di amicizia tra le comunità parrocchiali. Essi durano ancora e sono testimonianza e volto vivo dell’amore evangelico e della cura verso il prossimo nel bisogno.

Qui vengono in mente le parole di S. Paolo Apostolo scritte nella Lettera ai Colossesi: “E qualunque cosa facciate, in parole e opere, tutto avvenga nel nome del Signore Gesù, rendendo grazie per mezzo di lui a Dio Padre” (Col 3,17). Pertanto, resi dotti dalla parola dell’Apostolo, ringraziamo la Chiesa Polacca per l’amore fraterno mostrato nell’arco di oltre 30 anni alla Chiesa Ucraina. Questo ringraziamento è il primo che, come Episcopato della Chiesa Romano-Cattolica Ucraina, oggi vogliamo esprimere e lasciare ai Polacchi, i quali, pur non essendo i più ricchi al mondo, sono stati capaci di condividere con coloro che erano ancora più poveri.

Proseguendo, vogliamo porre l’attenzione al titolo di quest’anno della Giornata di Preghiera e di Aiuto alla Chiesa dell’Est che recita: “Inviati nella pace di Cristo”. Nella guerra in corso in Ucraina esso è per noi una luce di speranza e allo stesso tempo orgoglio per l’atteggiamento dei Polacchi. Il Signore Gesù ha detto: In verità io vi dico: “tutto quello che avete fatto a uno solo di questi miei fratelli più piccoli, l’avete fatto a me” (Mt 25,40). Pertanto, dicendo ancora una volta che vi ringraziamo, lo riempiamo del contenuto dell’amore evangelico, che avete dimostrato negli ultimi mesi, quando avete dato da mangiare agli affamati, avete dato da bere agli assetati, avete vestito gli ignudi e siete venuti in aiuto ai malati. Lo avete fatto a casa vostra, che si chiama Polonia. Per questo atteggiamento, siate benedetti e sappiate di possedere il regno promesso da Dio – di verità, pace e giustizia.

Siamo profondamente colpiti dalla Vostra costante benevolenza, solidarietà e dall’aiuto concreto. Tale atteggiamento è espressione di una fede viva, perché come ha detto l’Apostolo Giacomo: “La fede senza le opere è morta. A che serve, fratelli miei, se uno dice di avere la fede ma non ha le opere?” (Gc 2,14). Per questo, insieme a tutta la comunità ecclesiale Ucraina, vi ringraziamo e vi chiediamo di continuare a ricordarvi di noi. La vostra benevola memoria si manifesti nella preghiera di implorazione per una rapida fine della guerra e per la pace, ma anche – e questo osiamo chiederlo con umiltà – nelle offerte e nei doni materiali.

Ci rendiamo conto che anche per voi è difficile vivere. Pensate però anche ai vostri fratelli e sorelle nella fede che si trovano alla soglia di una catastrofe umanitaria, legata alla distruzione delle infrastrutture energetiche e, di conseguenza, all’ansia e paura per l’inverno in arrivo. Già da ora sperimentiamo la mancanza di corrente elettrica e la conseguenza è la mancanza di riscaldamento e di acqua. Praticamente in tutta l’Ucraina si può usare solo 4 ore al giorno. Vi sono anche luoghi in cui non c’è per giornate intere. Per questo si avvicina a noi un nemico che si chiama freddo, la paralisi delle comunicazioni e la paura. Oggi la guerra non è solo al fronte, dove si svolgono le lotte che portano morte e feriti tra i soldati e i civili, ma è anche la paralisi della vita quotidiana.

San Giovanni Paolo II disse: “Credo che più si ama, più si opera, perché un amore, che non fosse niente più che un sentimento, non si potrebbe neanche chiamare amore”. Vi chiediamo proprio questo amore che si esprime nel sostegno materiale. Esso ci aiuterebbe ad assicurare le necessità basilari, come l’acquisto di generatori di energia, grazie ai quali nelle nostre parrocchie potremmo organizzare luoghi di rifugio per i nostri fedeli, perché nei momenti critici possano riscaldarsi o preparare pasti caldi.

Nei momenti di esperienze così grandi, quando la guerra lascia dietro di sé morte, sofferenza e rovine, la comunità ecclesiale Ucraina non è da sola, perché la Chiesa polacca è con lei. Siete con noi dal 24 febbraio, quando è cominciata la guerra. È difficile oggi sintetizzare con i numeri l’aiuto ricevuto, ma è enorme, come è enorme il cuore dei Polacchi. Vi chiediamo: siateci ancora vicini! Questa nostra richiesta, che indirizziamo alla Chiesa in Polonia, che poniamo nelle mani dell’Episcopato Polacco, è un appello di paura e ansia per la sopravvivenza. Cosi, quindi vi ringraziamo ancora una volta per il dono della preghiera e dell’aiuto economico, con cui ci sosterrete nella II Domenica di Avvento. Ad oggi, il modo più efficace per manifestarvi la nostra gratitudine è attraverso la preghiera per le persone di buona volontà.

Dio, Padre di Misericordia Vi ricompensi per tutto il bene che ci avete fatto e Vi protegga Maria Santissima, nostra comune Regina e Madre.

У Другу Неділю Адвенту, 4 грудня, Католицька Церква в Польщі відзначатиме День молитви та матеріальної допомоги для Церкви на Сході, цього року особливим чином присвячений Україні. У зв’язку з цим днем ​​єпископи, що брали участь в засіданні Конференції Єпископату України, надіслали польському Єпископату листа до всієї Католицької Церкви в Польщі. «Дякуємо Церкві в Польщі за братерську любов, виявлену протягом цих понад 30 років свободи Церкви в Україні. Ця подяка – перше, що ми, як Єпископат Римо-Католицької Церкви в Україні, хочемо сказати сьогодні полякам, які, не будучи найбагатшими у світі, змогли поділитися з ще біднішими», – пишуть єпископи з України.

У листі вони дякують насамперед за підтримку, яку поляки надають від 24 лютого цього року, від початку повномасштабної війни. «Ми глибоко зворушені Вашою постійною добротою, солідарністю та дуже конкретною допомогою. Таке ставлення є виявом живої віри», – читаємо у листі. Також у зверненні є й прохання про матеріальну підтримку. «Наше прохання, з яким ми звертаємося до Церкви в Польщі через руки польського єпископату, є закликом страху і тривоги за виживання», – зізнаються вони. «Ще раз дякуємо вам за дар молитви та фінансову допомогу, якими ви підтримуєте нас у Другу Неділю Адвенту», – додають вони, запевняючи про молииву за людей доброї волі.

«Ми розуміємо, що вам також нелегко. Але подумайте про своїх братів і сестер у вірі, які стоять на межі гуманітарної катастрофи, пов’язаної з руйнуванням енергетичної інфраструктури і, як наслідок, страхом перед прийдешньою зимою», – читаємо в листі. За словами єпископів, мешканцям України не вистачає, зокрема електроенергії, внаслідок чого не вистачає тепла та води. По всій Україні ним можна користуватися лише 4 години на добу. Також є місця, де його немає цілими днями. «до нас наближається ворог, ім’я якого – холод, параліч комунікації і страх. Сьогодні війна – це не лише фронт, де ведуться бої, які приносять смерть і каліцтва солдатам і мирним жителям, а й параліч повсякденного життя», – йдеться у листі.

Посилаючись на девіз цьогорічного Дня молитви і допомоги Церкві на Сході: «Послані в мирі Христовому», українські єпископи наголошують, що в умовах війни, яка триває в Україні, це для них світло надії, а водночас гордість за ставлення поляків. «Тому, ще раз промовляючи слово спасибі, ми наповнюємо його змістом євангельської любові, яку Ви проявили в останні місяці, коли нагодували голодних, напоїли спраглих, прийняли прибулих, одягли нагих і дали руку допомоги хворим. Ви зробили це у своєму домі, ім’я якому – Польща», пишуть єпископи, додаючи: «разом із усією спільнотою Церкви в Україні дякуємо вам і просимо пам’ятати про нас і надалі. Нехай ваша зичлива пам’ять проявляється в молитвах про швидкий кінець війни та настання миру, але також в тому, про що ми смиренно просимо – у жертвах і матеріальних дарах».

Друга Неділя Адвенту є великим днем ​​солідарності Церковної Спільноти в Польщі з Церковною Спільнотою на Сході, а цього року – особливо в Україні. Уже 23-й раз, поляки дивляться на Схід, щоб дати прекрасне свідчення пам’яті про католиків, які там живуть, які, незважаючи на труднощі та численні негаразди, зберегли свою віру. Робили це з великим почуттям своєї ідентичності та єдності з усією Вселенською Церквою. Вони ніколи не поривали зв’язку зі Святим Престолом і не зрікалися своєї віри, а багато хто, захищаючи її, постраждали за ім’я Ісуса, приймаючи кару ув’язнення, приниження та позбавлення можливості отримувати освіту. Багато з них померли, поклавши своє життя як наріжний камінь Церкви і приклад незламності. Їхнє ставлення можна описати словами св. Апостола Павла, який у своєму листі до Филип’ян писав: «Для мене життя — Христос, а смерть — надбання» (Филип’ян 1:21). І насправді так сталося. Їхні страждання, в що ми глибоко віруємо, обернулися для них благословенням, бо, як говорить нам віра, покладаючись на Бога, вони отримали нагороду з Його руки. Ми бачимо це в спасінні, яке вони отримали серед святих і блаженних, а також й в земному плоді їхньої жертви, яким було оновлення структур Церкви після падіння комуністичного режиму.

Бідна, розбита і розпорошена Церква стала на великий шлях свободи. З самого початку це була непроста дорога. Потрібно було повертати та відбудовувати церкви. Треба було дбати про священицькі та релігійні покликання. Треба було забезпечити душпастирською опікою вірних. Сьогодні можна сказати, що Церква виконала ці завдання. Це стало можливим значною мірою завдяки священикам і чернецтву, які прибули з Польщі. Саме вони стояли поряд з нечисленними місцевими священиками і, докладаючи великих зусиль душпастирського служіння, розділяючи незручності та долаючи всі перепони з боку влади, дали Церкві нове обличчя. Це сталося тому, що за ними солідарно стояли їхні єпархіальні та чернечі спільноти, парафії, де вони колись працювали і звідки походили. Завдяки їхньому служінню між парафіяльними спільнотами встановилися узи дружби. Вони продовжуються і є свідченням і образом живого Євангелія любові та турботи про ближніх у потребі.

Тут згадуються слова св. Апостола Павла, який писав у посланні до Колосян: «І все, що тільки робите словом чи ділом, усе робіть в Ім’я Господа Ісуса, дякуючи через Нього Богові й Отцеві» (Колосян 3:17). Тому, навчені словом Апостола, дякуємо Церкві в Польщі за братерську любов, виявлену протягом цих понад 30 років свободи Церкви в Україні. Ця подяка – перше, що ми, як Єпископат Римо-Католицької Церкви в Україні, хочемо сказати сьогодні полякам, які, не будучи найбагатшими у світі, змогли поділитися з ще біднішими.

Йдучи далі, хочемо звернути увагу на девіз цьогорічного Дня молитви і допомоги для Церкви на Сході: «Послані в мирі Христовому». Серед війни, що триває в Україні, це для нас маяк надії, а водночас і гордість за ставлення поляків. Господь Ісус сказав: «Істинно кажу вам: усе, що ви зробили одному з цих братів Моїх найменших, ви Мені зробили» (Матвія 25:40). Тому, ще раз промовляючи слово спасибі, ми наповнюємо його змістом євангельської любові, яку Ви проявили в останні місяці, коли нагодували голодних, напоїли спраглих, прийняли прибулих, одягли нагих і дали руку допомоги хворим. Ви зробили це у своєму домі, ім’я якому – Польща. Будьте благословенні за таке ставлення і хай Бог нагородить Вас обіцяним царством – правди, миру та справедливості.

Ми глибоко зворушені Вашою постійною добротою, солідарністю та дуже конкретною допомогою. Таке ставлення є виявом живої віри, бо, як каже апостол Яків: «Віра без діл мертва. Бо яка користь, брати мої, якщо хтось каже, що вірить, а діл не має?» (Якова 2:14). Тому разом із усією спільнотою Церкви в Україні дякуємо вам і просимо пам’ятати про нас і надалі. Нехай ваша зичлива пам’ять проявляється в молитвах про швидкий кінець війни та настання миру, але також в тому, про що ми смиренно просимо – у жертвах і матеріальних дарах.

Ми розуміємо, що вам також нелегко. Але подумайте про своїх братів і сестер у вірі, які стоять на межі гуманітарної катастрофи, пов’язаної з руйнуванням енергетичної інфраструктури і, як наслідок, страхом перед прийдешньою зимою. Вже сьогодні всі ми відчуваємо нестачу електроенергії, а як наслідок – нестачу тепла та води. Практично по всій Україні цим можна користуватися лише по 4 години на добу. Також є місця, де цього немає цілими днями. Отже, до нас наближається ворог, ім’я якого – холод, параліч комунікації і страх. Сьогодні війна – це не лише фронт, де ведуться бої, які приносять смерть і каліцтва солдатам і мирним жителям, а й параліч повсякденного життя.

Святий Іван Павло ІІ сказав: «Я вірю, що чим більше людина любить, тим більше вона робить, тому що любов, яка є нічим іншим, як почуттям, я навіть не міг би назвати любов’ю». Ми просимо Вас про цю любов, виражену в матеріальній підтримці. Це допоможе нам забезпечити базові потреби, наприклад придбання генераторів, завдяки яким ми зможемо організувати в наших парафіях місця притулку для вірних, щоб вони могли зігрітися чи приготувати гарячу їжу у критичну хвилину.

Під час такого великого досвіду, коли війна залишає по собі смерть, страждання та попіл, спільнота Церкви в Україні не самотня, бо Церква в Польщі з нею. Ви з нами з 24 лютого, коли почалася війна. Отриману сьогодні допомогу важко описати цифрами, але вона велика, як великі серця поляків. Просимо, будьте й надалі поруч з нами! Наше прохання, з яким ми звертаємося до Церкви в Польщі через руки польського єпископату, є закликом страху і тривоги за виживання. Тож ще раз дякуємо вам за дар молитви та фінансову допомогу, якими ви підтримуєте нас у Другу Неділю Адвенту. Відсьогодні ми можемо найефективніше висловити свою вдячність через молитву за людей доброї волі.

Нехай Бог, Отець Милосердя, благословить Вас за все добро, яке Ви нам виявили, а Пречиста Діва Марія, наша спільна Цариця і Мати, оберігає Вас.
